I think that over the weekend my two beautiful boys have turned into the two-headed monster! :-) I am officially exhausted and they haven't even turned 6! El and I are having to revamp our grocery budget, because they are eating so much and I hear it gets worse! Ty ate 2 1/2 bratwursts, huge bowl of watermelon and 3 servings of steak fries and Isaac won't let him beat him in anything so you know what Isaac ate... Kayla was thoroughly disgusted!
Yesterday we had a meeting with our social worker. She has to come and see how everything is going... well, after she was there for just a couple of minutes... Isaac and Ty came downstairs playing "drums" with all my wooden spoons. My first thought was "that's where all my spoons are!" and then I asked them where they found those and Ty answers "spanking" and starts hitting the couch! Fabulous... this meeting is off to a great start! I was speechless!! AND, NO we haven't spanked him with a spoon! I put the spoons away and told the boys to go outside. Isaac started dancing around, telling me there are bees outside (Isaac is terrified of bugs, but that's another story). I looked at him with one of those looks that says, "you'd better get outside now or I will put those spoons to use!" So they went outside and we tried to continue on with the meeting. Within minutes, Ty ran inside, slammed and locked the door, and started laughing and said, "Isaac... Bumblebee...Sting...ahaha...ahahaha!" Isaac started banging on the door screaming and cyring! I told you... they know how to push each others buttons! Fortunately, the social worker has 3 boys and she was laughing. I tried again by telling the boys to go downstairs and stay down there. Finally that worked and we were able to finish up our meeting and move on. Once El and the social worker left I realized that I hadn't eaten yet, and it was around 2:00. I started fixing my lunch and all of a sudden I heard all this yelling and crashing around. "What are you guys doing?", I called downstairs and their response was, "We're just playing ishy bang bang". Well, by this time I really wasn't in the mood for their code language, which is a mix of Amharic and English, so I told them I had another game for them to play called "NAP". They weren't about to take a nap but they did have to go to bed and be quiet for 30 min. After 5 minutes they were both out of bed sitting on the toilet, and they take full delight in being able to go to bathroom on queue! I come upstairs and they are both sitting... on their toilets just laughing... and when I was finished with them they had the nerve to ask if they could get up! After they got their answer they stayed in bed for the next 30 min, and I was able to do some school with Kayla.
Once they got up, the fun began again... more code language, banging, running, eating, falling, crying, teasing, eating, spying on, hiding from and scaring mom! I am sure that this isn't news to some of you, but I am thinking that the fun around here has just begun!
