This is it. We’re returning to America. This will be my last post to the blog. Today, the only thing that I really had to do was pack. It was another day without much going on. It’s about 3:15PM and in about 3 – 4 hours we will be heading to the airport. Fitsum has a small understanding of what’s going on. I’ve tried to explain to him that today we’re getting on a plane to go to America. Several times today he has mentioned it and has shown some excitement about the idea, however, I don’t think he can really comprehend what it all means. I’m still wondering about what his reaction going to be once we get to the airport, get on the plane and actually take off.

Staying here at the Guest House was definitely the right choice for us. There are other alternatives as far as lodging, such as the Hilton, Sheraton, etc. However, the interaction we had with the people here, the conversations we had around the dinner table and in the family room really reinforced the fact that the decision we made to stay here was the right one. Staying somewhere else would have been a mistake (at least from my perspective). Ray and Lauralee are wonderful hosts. They made us feel quite at home and throughout the entire time we were here, they treated our kids like they were their own grandkids. They played with them, they made them laugh, they helped immensely when it came to translating for us… we really had a wonderful time. I’m not sure how many families reading this blog are thinking about adopting or are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia (I know at least one family that is). If you are adopting and traveling to Addis Ababa to get your kid(s) I strongly recommend the Ethiopian Addis Kidan Baptist Church Guest House. The people here are warm, polite, helpful, social, flexible, and much more… and the food is excellent. I’m doing a little bit of advertising, here. Any proceeds from the Guest House help the ministry of the Church. Here’s some contact information:

The mission statement: “Worshiping God in word and deed, serving the whole person and helping him, to reach the fullness of Christ with the foundation of the scripture, glorifying God in all.”

I’m sure their websites have great information if you would like more details.

I want to thank everybody for the support and words of encouragement we’ve received. This trip has been not only a blessing but a wonderful experience, which won’t be forgotten. Thank you for sharing with me and my family something that is very personal, exciting and incredibly rewarding. May God be glorified for everything, and in everything.

El,
Thanks for keeping us all up to date with information and pictures while you were gone. It sure helps the time pass and it's so much fun to see you and Fitsum and where you are staying and what sights you see everyday. A little over 24 hours and we will welcome you home at the Columbus airport, Lord willing! Glad to see that Fitsum is a Buckeye Fan! We'll pray for a safe and uneventful flight home.

Love, Mom

Boy, it sounds like El is done posting!! :) Well, for those of you who have asked, we are still going to be posting his homecoming and some about how he transitions to our family!

Even if I have to take over, much to the dismay of my older sister (who is an English major). She told me that I wasn't allowed posting anything else without her proof reading it because what I say doesn't always make sense. Imagine that!

Anyways, they will be arriving in Columbus Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and we will be taking more picture and I'm sure have some more stories!

Until then..........
Kara

Kara,

I don't care how it is written. (I'm not very good at writting either.) Please continue the adventure for us all and good luck and God bless.

You are doing something that I can only dream about. (I'm to afraid to try.) Maybe someday God will give me enough Courage to try.
