Catching up!

We have had so many things going on that there just hasn't been time to blog much. To start with.... Ty has been having some testing done because he seems to be struggling with school. We had enrolled him in Kindergarten hoping that it would be a bit of enrichment for him, but after a week, we met with the teacher and she confirmed that he couldn't keep up and suggested having him tested by the special needs preschool, which we did. He did qualify in a couple of areas, but language wasn't one of them! :-) The teachers were so surprised by this, and because of this they think that he probably doesn't have a long term learning disability, but could benefit from some intervention. El and I agreed, and so this week he started back to school. He only goes for 4 mornings a week, and he loves it! I think it will be good for him and will help fill in some of the developmental gaps that he missed because of his circumstances. His first 5 years of life weren't exactly filled play, he was too busy trying to survive.

In November, we also took a trip to Disney World. So when I wasn't homeschooling, or running Ty around to his testing.... I was trying to get ourselves organized and packed for the trip. Disney is a working vacation, but worth it! The first day we were up at 4:00 a.m. to catch our flight at 7:30 a.m.. By 10:30 we were in Florida and went to Animal Kingdom as soon as we got checked into the hotel. That probably wasn't the best idea because the kids were tired once we got there. Isaac fell asleep on the African Safari and Ty walked around saying his stomach hurt. We went ahead and went back to the room and interestingly enough, Ty's stomach miraculously got better once he found out the other 2 kids were heading to the pool (amazing how that works) :-). Anyways, the next morning we went to the Magic Kingdom and before we even got there Ty said, "Mommy, I love Disney!"... I said, "Me too!" :-) I'm still a too much of a kid.... especially for El. El isn't especially fond of Disney, but he was willing to go because he "dislikes" the cold even more than he "dislikes" Disney. Overall, we had a GREAT trip and I will post all the pictures once I get them off of El's computer.

Now that we are back we have been catching up. We got our Christmas trees up and I will post a picture of Ty putting up the star later. He was so cute and thrilled with all the decorations. He began preschool and LOVES it! And I have been taking advantage of those couple of hours to continue homeschooling the other 2 kids. I don't know if I mentioned before that El got a new job in November too, and so he has been very busy learning a lot of new things, but really enjoys it. So we have all been a bit busy, but it's been a good busy!

Welcome home! I love Disney because, even if you aren't fond of Disney, it takes on a whole new meaning when you see it through the eyes of you kids.
